A day of gratitude, community service, empathy and compassion for Migrant Workers and Families in Immokalee, Florida

A day of gratitude, community service, empathy and compassion for Migrant Workers and Families in Immokalee, Florida with the Haitian American Nurses Association of Florida (HANA), in collaboration with Global Village Impact, Inc., Haitian American Professionals Coalition (HAPC) and Global Innovative Foundation. Over 300 families were served with food, toiletries, clothing, shoes, toys for children, school supplies, and education on COVID-19 prevention. Masks and hand sanitizers were provided to participants. Special thanks to Maranatha Baptist Church Leader – Pastor Patrick St. Lot and congregation for hosting HANA and all the people in Immokalee and volunteers who participated. “I am glad we were able to help our brothers and sisters who are in dire need”, said Rose Valcin, MSN, APRN, AGACNP-BC, President of HANA of Florida.

This event was made possible with the participation of HANA Board Members: Katiana Blaise, MSNEd, APRN, FNP-BC, CCRN, Secretary, Nancy Henri, MSNEd, APRN, RN, Assistant Treasurer, Dr. Marie Etienne, Past President of HANA of Florida, President of HANA-I, Chair of Legislative Affairs & Public Relations as well as the coordinator for the day of service in Immokalee, and the two volunteers from Global Village Impact, Inc, Mr. Laron Yeah & Jamal Philipps, Mr. Jean Daniel Vicent and Mr. Marc Arthur Philippe-Auguste who also volunteered. A huge thanks to Mrs. Derby Johnson who donated clothes, school supplies, toys, sheets and pillows. Dr. Basil Phillips, President/CEO of Global Village Impact, Inc. and Dr. Guerda Nicolas, Chairwoman of HAPC & Team for sponsoring the event.
